26x365 _ The Project

Release 3 songs to iTunes ever 3 months for 1 year. At the end of the year, release the 4 parts as a whole album.

Why a gradual release?
We know it's nothing new, but we think a gradual digital release will be an excellent way of propelling 26 into the ears of a wider audience. We think it will help in 3 key areas:

1) Momentum with our audience
2) Momentum with the industry
3) Offer a different sales format

Momentum with our Audience
Unless you are Coldplay, Metallic or Andre Rieu, the one thing a band must do is maintain momentum. Peoples attention span is becoming shorter and shorter, so we want to be attracting CONSISTENT attention.

This release process will allow:
1. New material to the audience, but not so quickly that it will lose it's impact.
2. Offer a time based point of interest for the band
3. Allow the audience to see how we are progressing as a band
4. Have new content for an entire year, including pictures, videos, blogs, give aways, etc
5. New gig material for an entire year and having it ready for consumption on itunes. No waiting for the whole album to be released.

Momentum with the Industry
The same benefits apply to the industry as to the audience:

1. Consistently new material
2. Publicity tool
3. Sales tool
4. New content
5. Demonstration of band growth

Different Sales format - only on iTunes
We are releaseing this project only to iTunes for these reasons:

1. We want the releases to be value for money for both our audience,
2. It will not be financially feasable for us to produce hard copies for each release
3. Fast turnaround
4. It's trusted by consumers, and seen to be more secure than an online shop.
5. We are able to sell the 3 song parts as a package for only $3.39. This is attractive to the wallet, and perfect for this project.
6. It allows us to focus all our energies and sales to outlet.

Conclusion
This is what we are calling our 'smart release'. As an independent band, we need more than just catchy tunes to pave our way. We need to be smarter, more efficient, more proffesional and more active than our musical rivals - not to mention a little more rocking!
